Snafus in Student Debt Contracting May Cause Reboot by Agency
The Department of Education is signaling it may need to start from scratch in finding companies to collect close to $5 billion in student loan debts.
The government, facing protests from 19 companies, has acknowledged that it may have to scrap its two recent contract awards – including one to Performant Recovery Inc., a company that has been tied to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
